NOVICA, in association with National Geographic, works together with talented artisan designers around the world to produce stunning, keepsake treasures. Our mantra is to spread global happiness, so rest assured - we’ll do everything we possibly can to ensure you’re a happy customer. About this item: A profusion of petals and tendrils graces this sleek celadon vase. Kanda uses gae sa lak, a traditional Thai process used in decorative carving. Made of ko or rokfa wood ashes enriched with oxides, the glazes distinguish these traditional Thai ceramics. When the kiln is opened, the change of temperature causes the piece to contract, giving it the distinctive crackled appearance of true celadon. - Watertight - Features a crackled finish About our Artist: Thailand's Kanda says, 'I became very interested in celadon as a result of my mother's large collection. She said each piece represented the wisdom of the ancient Thai people. I traveled to a celadon workshop to learn how to create these ceramics, and a craftsperson who was closing his workshop gave me his molds. A young sculptor, Mr. Prajuap, built the kiln and we now work together. We are also creating jobs for local craftspeople.'
